Request a Feature

Can't find how to do [x] in the code library? You’re probably not alone - and yes, we do take feature requests! We're always working to expand the engine’s functionality to support developers like you. The best part? When something is added, it benefits everyone. To request a new feature, please contact an admin.

Info

Pokengine is a non-profit project maintained by a very small team. While we welcome requests, we’re currently working through a large backlog of features and improvements. That means new requests may take a while to review and even longer to implement. We prioritize based on how critical a request is, so lower-priority items could take months before they’re reviewed or implemented.

Planning Ahead

Some large systems (such as daycare, contests, or other major mechanics) are part of our long-term roadmap but are not yet functional. When designing your region, we recommend planning space for these features in advance so future updates can be integrated smoothly.

Existing Roadmap Features

Standard Pokémon mechanics - including contests, berry growing, and similar systems - are already planned as part of core engine development and do not need to be requested separately.

Workarounds & Non-Essential Features

If the functionality you’re requesting isn’t essential, we suggest considering a workaround, an alternate approach, or possibly setting the idea aside for now - we don’t want to be a blocker on you finishing or releasing your project.

Design Vision & Cohesion

Not every feature request will be implemented. All ideas are evaluated against the engine’s overall design goals, balance, and long-term vision. Some suggestions may conflict with existing systems or reduce consistency between regions. Our aim is to maintain cohesive core functionality across the engine, and decisions are made with the long-term health of the project in mind.
